“Memories” is a brand new single by the music group Maroon 5 from their upcoming seventh studio album. The song turns a page away from Maroon 5’s usual upbeat rhythms and notches it down to a moody reflection on relationships.
The “Girls Like You” hitmakers, Maroon 5 first teased the upcoming single on their Twitter handle with the single artwork and song title. Five days later, on September 20th, the song was released as the first single off of their new album.
Meaning of “Memories” by Maroon 5
“Memories” reflect on a variety of aspects of life that we try to hold close and dear to us forever. Our first kiss, the first crush, that one specific birthday, one embarrassing moment, graduation, drinking with friends and the list goes on and on. We live and survive on these memories.
However, there is also a slight undertone that this song is about that special one. Scrolling down the memory lane, you are bound to come across a few lovers whom you imagined your entire future with. The lovers that did not work out, the lovers that almost did, and the lover that did work out. Every little thing that holds dear to us is permanently embedded in our memory drives.
Maroon 5 also pours a glass to the ones who have left us and this world along our journey. They also salute the ones who are still there with us, and who will be with us through this journey of life.

In a Tweet, Adam Levine explained who the song is dedicated to;
“This song is for anyone who has ever experienced loss. In other words, this song is for all of us.”
