“Kolors” is Zero Fatigue collective members’ Monte Booker and Smino’s biggest hit to-date, yet again, thanks to the popular micro-video platform TikTok. The song was a major wave on TikTok with over 5.8 million videos posted by fans dancing to this song.
“Kolors,” an obvious spin off of the word ‘colours,’ is a celebration of different colors associated with our lives. The song assosiates different colours to different moods that we ride throughout everyday, and in relationships.
The Monte Booker and Smino collaborative, “Kolors” released on January 1, 2015, from Booker’s 2015 album ‘Soulection White Label: 016.’ However, the power of social media has revived the song to an unprecedented height it, or the artist, has never seen before.

Pre-chorus
From the pre-chorus itself, the intentions of the song are very visible. He sings about purple trees and brown colour in himself. Brown is a reference to the actual color of his skin. He describes his hair to be yellow and curly.
The singer meets a girl from California, and she is the perfect score of freakiness. She is bisexual in nature, for which Booker says he is fine with.
Chorus
More emotions attached to colours follow. ‘Blue’ is a color associated with feeling down, sadness, and depressed. This californian girl says she felt blue when her ‘boo’ left her, and her ‘boo’ is a girl too. She says she got played by her. But now she is like F her, because she is moving on.
Verse
In the only verse of “Kolors,” the artists sing about finding different colors boos in their journey through life. Smino says that ever since he left St. Louis, his hometown, things have not been so black and white. Black and white is considered to be dull, flavorless, and boring. However, black and white had clear contrasts. Life in color may not be so clear cut, so many blurs, and so many gradients.
