There would only be two instances where the end of the world would be a welcomed blessing. One, you are in extreme and constant pain, and the second is you so strongly desire to be your one true love but the whole world is against you. And then “If The World Was Ending” they could finally have the peaceful ending they desired.
The Toronto-based singer and songwriter JP Saxe premiered his brand new single “If The World Was Ending” with another super talent Julia Michaels. In addition, the song has been produced by FINNEAS, brother of Billie Eilish. Both JP and Julia have contributed to the lyrics of the song.
“If The World Was Ending” plays at a point where the duo had broken up over a year ago. There is an earthquake and the first thought that crosses the singer’s mind is if his ex is doing okay. After a year, they still have not been able to move on. Watch the music video below.
The music video, directed by Jason Lester, shows JP and Julia Michaels stuck inside a house, as the emergency alerts flare on the TV. The two seems to enjoy a drink and enjoy each others company as they watch the world crumble around them.
In the pre-chorus of the song, JP admits that this relationship was never meant to last. She was not the kind to settle down for a ‘forever’ love. But things change, people change and circumstances change. When there is no tomorrow, you would want to enjoy today with the best memories possible.
“If The World Was Ending” there is no fear of anybody judging them, bad-mouthing them or even standing against their love. Even if they did, those would be irrelevant in a matter of hours. There is an eerie peacefulness in this thought.
Julia Michael’s verse in the song also suggests that she has had a hard time moving on. However, she does not comment on why she did not want to settle down with him in the first place. But both of them seemed to have just started to move on when this earthquake brought them back together. It could be torture or ecstasy! He just wants to know, if all other factors were to be removed from the equation (i.e. a world’s end), could they be together?
