American Idol Season 18 is just underway and one of the most-watched performances from the initial selections rounds was of Dibesh Pokharel , a Nepalese singer living in Kansas, US. He goes by the stage name Arthur Gunn and he stunned the judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie.
First of all, Katy Perry went on to comment on his name ‘Dibesh’ which sounds quite similar to “de best.” Was he the best? Well, after his performance of “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” Luke Bryan asked if he was willing to be the opening act for his upcoming concert in Detroit. That should tell something.
Arthur Gunn walked in with his acoustic guitar and covered “Girl From the North Country” by Bob Dylan. Upon the request of Lionel Richie, Arthur went on to perform “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” by Creedence Clearwater Revival band. Watch his full American Idol 2020 performance below.
“He is ‘di besh,” Katy Perry joked after this performance. “We are just trying to set you up for global overtaking,” added Luke Bryan! “You are the story we need to tell the world. I don’t think we need to vote,” said Lionel Richie.
After this performance went viral, for all the right reasons, Arthur Gunn released a full cover of the song on his official YouTube channel. Watch below.
He also had the following message for his fans;
I saw a lot of request for “Have you ever seen the rain” by the “Creedence Clearwater Revival”. This song is and always will be on the list of my favorite songs in the whole world. This is the version I did, hope it’ll do justice, to show some respect to the band and the song and all of you people out there. Once again, I humbly appreciate and respect your support from all around the world. For now, giving thanks!
