An accidental meetup turns into a life-long partnership for the protagonist of this story. He might have been drinking his loneliness away in a dimly lit club when their eyes connected. But the darkness surrounding him was not just of the club, but also within him as well. He might have been at a rather low point in his life.

Not everyone wants to feel like a prince or a princess. Most people just want to feel enough for the other person. ‘Enough’ is sustainable. Princes/princesses’ level expectations are hard to maintain for a lifetime.
The guy and the girl hits it off at the club, they drink their hearts out and dance the night away. They end the night with him holding her hair back as she throws up in a back alley. This has not been the ‘dreamy’ first date most people expect. They started from the bottom and the only way from here is up.
Instead of a movie, dinner, sex, and never calling back, this date went from drinking to dancing to her inviting him over and him saying that she should get rest instead. He has no intention of taking advantage of a drunk lady and being unable to face her the next day. He had intentions for a lifetime.
