Halsey – Lonely is the Muse | Lyrics Meaning Revealed

A poem turned pop song, “Lonely is the Muse” is a brand new track by Halsey talking about their destructive pattern of going from one relationship to the other and never finding happiness or peace. Every time she stops, someone or something makes them regret their choice.

“Lonely is the Muse” was released on August 15, 2024, and Halsey went on to Tumblr to reveal that the song was based on a poem she wrote. The song is expected to be part of the upcoming fifth studio album by Halsey.

The promotional posters released for the song include Halsey sitting on the genitalia of the statue of Victor Noir. It is believed that women who wish to get pregnant should do the same for luck. In the context of the song, the lonely muse must be fulfilling their wish to get pregnant through such superstitious acts as she cannot settle for a relationship long enough/successful enough to bear children with them.

In the second chorus of the song, Halsey accepts their fate. Whoever is in their bed right now can be done with their timeline and Halsey will await the next. Halsey will lick their wounds to heal. Then she will wait patiently for the next con artist to appear and rip their wounds open again. The cycle continues. Lonely is the muse…
