“Lonely is the Muse” was released on August 15, 2024, and Halsey went on to Tumblr to reveal that the song was based on a poem she wrote. The song is expected to be part of the upcoming fifth studio album by Halsey.
The promotional posters released for the song include Halsey sitting on the genitalia of the statue of Victor Noir. It is believed that women who wish to get pregnant should do the same for luck. In the context of the song, the lonely muse must be fulfilling their wish to get pregnant through such superstitious acts as she cannot settle for a relationship long enough/successful enough to bear children with them.

In the first verse of the song, we hear the common fate of many of Halsey’s relationships. They work on their relationship for months or even years. This is hard work. There are ups and downs. But there comes a situation when the relationship gets rattled to the core. Most relationships won’t survive this. Halsey has been living this recurring theme for quite some time now. Find a new partner. Enjoy the honeymoon phase. Work on their differences. Arrive at a junction where they just cannot work over. Breakup, and repeat.
After some cycles, it should feel exhausting. Insecurities should arise. She will start questioning their self-worth.
The chorus of the song gets even sadder. Halsey compares herself to Jesus in the context that she is going to die for their beliefs (whatever they may be). She is a unique piece of work. She always knew this. Through a lot of self-discovery, she learned how to disassemble herself to make herself approachable to others. But this cannot last. She has to reassemble herself to be herself. Their mold depends on who she is with, in the beginning. But there are so many times you can break and recreate a mold before it is broken forever.

In the second verse of the song, Halsey tries to pick up their self-worth. She is a global superstar with many successful songs and albums. She has toured the world and she has a dedicated fan base. All of this strips away when she steps into their home and lies in his bed. She becomes a mere body underneath another body that she despises.
In the second chorus of the song, Halsey accepts their fate. Whoever is in their bed right now can be done with their timeline and Halsey will await the next. Halsey will lick their wounds to heal.
