Mirrors covers versions

Top 5 Best Covers of “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake

“Mirrors” is one of the most beautiful songs I have come across in my entire life. The lyrics are profound, and Justin Timberlake sing it. So in my rating scale, that’s two for two. But today we are not going to talk about the original version. We are looking into the covers of “Mirrors” done by the fandom. This is a powerful song, and it probably has around a million cover versions on the Internet. It is not possible to go through all of them. So in our humble attempt to give you a top 5 list, we have considered popularity of the covers to a greater degree. The highest level of prominence was given to the uniqueness of the cover version. If the person/artist/band had made it quite different from the original and ‘owned’ it, we have given such covers a higher ranking. So in the end this top 5 list is a combination of popularity of each cover version, how unique it is and a little of my personal taste in music.

So this top 5 covers list will be quite different from what you have/had in mind and we would love to hear your opinion on it too. Comments are always welcomed!

Madilyn Bailey does an amazing job covering the song along with the support of a lobe Piano music. It is quite amazing. She has a powerful voice suited for acoustic music, and she delivered. One other important aspect is the uniqueness of her voice. Her voice has it’s own background music! It’s the ‘hhh’ sound behind her sharp vocals that balance off the song into a perfect harmony between high and low keys. It’s like two voices in one!

(03)  A Capella Version by Kevin Lien

“Everything you hear in this track was recorded using only my mouth, hands & feet” is what it says at the start of the video. Yes, we ranked this version for it’s uniqueness! Most successful covers are unique or different from the original version. That’s where we can really pickup the talent of the covering artist. And Kevin Lien does an amazing job on this cover.

He is like a human boom-box. There are sounds in this track which I cannot fathom to produce with just mouth, hands and feet. In that sense this just might be the most unique cover of “Mirrors”, period! He has an amazing voice to support all of that too.

(04) Acoustic Guitar Cover by Liz Loughrey

If you are into guitar covers, this is your medicine for the day. Liz Loughrey has an amazing voice and a talent to handle the guitar quite well. Put all of that with “Mirrors” and you get one of the most beautiful covers of all time.

We have given prominence to the uniqueness of the cover in this choice. Talk about ‘owning’ a song. She changes pace, rhythm and beat to produce something unique which no one on the list dared attempt. Hats off on the confidence factor to do something as drastic as this and still be able to pull it off. Black n White video is a nice touch too.

(05) Rock Version by Our Last Night

Maybe this should be number 4? I don’t know. This rock version of “Mirrors” just blew my mind off. “Mirrors” is a beautiful song with a mellow rhythm, and so were all the covers we listed so far. On that regard this is the most unique cover of them all. You don’t have to be a fan of Rock music to fall in love with this version.

The instruments just nailed it! The electrics guitars and the drums and the amplifiers! Pay closer attention to the drummer boy, going at it from the beginning to the end. He is a super talent, one of the best I have seen. I don’t know if Our Last Night vocalists purposely mellowed their voices to suite “Mirrors”, but I personally believe they could have done with a little more coarse in their voices. I really loved the areas where “Mirrors” was turned into a real Rock song at certain points. Towards the end of the song, it just became a full on rock song. Kudos! Take a bow Our Last Night, you have our regards!
