Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars are having a stellar time with their single “Uptown Funk“. As of today, “Uptown Funk” is spending it’s 12th consecutive week as the number one single on Billboard Hot 100. The track was on the chart for 16 weeks, and after a few ups and downs in the first few weeks, it has held it’s number one spot on Billboard chart for 12 CONSECUTIVE weeks. This is a huge deal!
“Uptown Funk” is a single off of Mark Ronson’s fourth studio album ‘Uptown Special’ (2015), and features vocals from the great Bruno Mars. There’s nothing Bruno Mars can’t sing, and this track proves Funk is his playground. The track acted as the lead single off of the album and the popularity hasn’t died since it was first released on November 10, 2014.
Billboard Hot 100 Journey of Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk”
“Uptown Funk” was debuted at 65th spot on Billboard Hot 100, and first week sales of 110,000 copies and massive digital plays boost the track to 18th spot on the second week. By the third week, it climbed to number 8 and by the fourth week it was at number 5. On fifth week it further climbed two spots up and by sixth week it was on top of the chart, and has been there ever since. So congratulations to Mark Ronson on his first ever Billboard Hot 100 track and first ever number one Billboard Hot 100 track, and Bruno Mars’s sixth number one single.
Entering into the 17th week on Billboard chart, “Uptown Funk” shows no signs of slowing down. Many new singles, albums and EPs have dropped since “Uptown Funk” released and none of them have been able to conquer the spot from it.
It’s one of those songs that grows on you, the more you listen to it. Our first listening didn’t impress us much. But it’s amazing performance around the world made us take a closer look at the track and now we are hooked.
Potential upcoming threats to “Uptown Funk” are possible singles from Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Untitled‘ album which will be released towards the end of March.
Anyway, a huge congratulations to the musical duo. Let us know what you think about this song.
