Niall Horan – Slow Hands (Lyrics Review & Song Meaning)

Nial Horan has been doing quite impressive after the falling out of One Direction crew-in fact, all of the former members have scored successes with their debut singles. Niall Horan’s “Slow Hands” mark the second solo single after the first solo debut “This Town” back in September 2016. Both singles will feature on Niall’s upcoming debut solo album ‘NH+’ expected to be released later this year.

“Slow Hands” is more of a fast-paced and sensual track than “This Town,” and Niall Horan described the contents of the song in an interview with Sirius XM.

“The whole song was pretty off-the-cuff. I wanted it to be a little bit cheeky with the lyric. We wrote this concept about being in the bar. The first line of the song is ‘We should take this back to my place’ – usually that’s what the guy would say, but we flipped it that the girl would say that, and that’s what she said right to my face. With the song, before we even wrote lyrics, we had this big track and it sounded quite sexy. So we thought that this concept would match the vibe of the song, and I think we might have been right.”

“Slow Hands” finds Niall Horan in a club, finding a girl she like and thereafter roles being reversed. It’s the girl who asks Niall to come home with her. Let’s look at the lyrics below.

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “Slow Hands”

Verse 1

We should take this back to my place
That’s what she said right to my face

Niall Horan seems to be one lucky chap, as he is being asked to usher the girl to her home. The roles are reversed and it’s a refreshing change of scenery. The girl did not hold back, neither did she hint it, she flat out asked the singer to come home with her.

‘Cause I want you bad
Yeah, I want you, baby
I’ve been thinking ’bout it all day
And I hope you feel the same way, yeah
‘Cause I want you bad
Yeah, I want you, baby

The girl in the bar continues to show her affection towards Niall Horan. If they met at the bar, we have no idea how she has been thinking about him all day-unless Niall Horan spends his entire day at the bar and the girl is a waitress there. Either way, she wants to be with him quite badly.

Chorus

Slow, slow hands
Like sweat dripping down our dirty laundry
No, no chance
That I’m leaving here without you on me
I, I know
Yeah, I already know that there ain’t no stopping
Your plans and those
Slow hands (woo)
Slow hands

Niall Horan uses the phrase ‘Slow hands’ as a reference to playing the game of love slowly, or rather taking their time to get to know each other and enjoy each other’s company. ‘Sweat dripping through dirty laundry’ could be a subtle reference to sex and they do that slowly as well-just like “Despacito” says.

Now that the girl has shown interest, Niall Horan too is determined to take the girl home. Now both of them know that the wheels have been set in motion and there’s no stopping now. They will play the game slowly.

Verse 2

I just wanna take my time
We could do this, baby, all night, yeah
‘Cause I want you bad
Yeah, I want you, baby

Niall must really be into slow play and hopefully his partner is too. His plan is to go all night and slowly. On a bigger scale of things, these lyrics mean that he is not in any rush with this relationship and he wants to enjoy and cherish every moment. He does not want to rush things and scare her away.

Bridge

Fingertips puttin’ on a show
Got me now and I can’t say no
Wanna be with you all alone
Take me home, take me home
Fingertips puttin’ on a show
Can’t you tell that I want you, baby, yeah

Her hands and fingers are running all over Niall and he can’t stop now. He is hooked and addicted to this lady. Nial Horan says he wishes to be with her all night and day for the rest of his life.

We think “Slow Hands” by Niall Horan has a very unique taste and sultriness to it, and most importantly the fans are loving it. The track is climbing steadily on top charts and make sure to buy the track and support the artists.
