Watch Katy Perry & Nicki Minaj Flop “Swish Swish” at VMAs 2017

What was expected to be one of the hottest live performances at the 2017 MTV VMAs, failed short of impressing anyone due to several reasons. Katy Perry hosted the VMAs and was to take on the stage with Nicki Minaj to perform their latest hit collab “Swish Swish” from Katy’s new album ‘Witness.’ This performance which closed the awards ceremony night did not live up to anyone’s expectations. Let us look at why.

“Swish Swish” usually captures an electrifying pace which includes the spitfire rap verse from Nicki Minaj. The official music video for “Swish Swish” lives up to the expectations of the song and the artists. But this live performance was quite dull and non-rhythmic to say the least. Katy Perry’s act looked tired as her arms and legs swung aimlessly in the air. She literally was flying, hanging from hooks, for the most part of the video.

Nicki Minaj messed up the beginning of her rap verse at VMAs night.

There was a giant hand hovering above the stage which was quite distracting and out-of-place for the video. Sure, the entire video was about dunking the basketball, which Katy Perry does in the end. But that giant hand looked a lot like that of Taylor Swift’s. We are not sure if that was intentional or not. You make a guess.

Even Nicki Minaj, who looked and performed flawless in the original video, did not look up to the part in this live performance. The backup dancers did an amazing job keeping up with the pace of the song.

The better part about this act was that the audience got to play with giant balloons that looked like basket balls in the end of the performance. They looked ecstatic, so that is what matters in the end.
