Imagine Dragons are going back to their “Radioactive” or “Demon” days with this new hard-hitting single “Natural.” It is unclear if the single is part of an unannounced album yet. However, the song could be a promotional track as ESPN has already signed off a deal for this track to be the anthem at 2018 College Football season. Wherever the song is from, “Natural” speaks of the cold truth of living and surviving in this world.
The single was released on July 12, with a Twitter post by Imagine Dragons.

Dan Reynolds, the lead vocalist of Imagine Dragons, explained the meaning behind “Natural” in an interview:
“Living in a dog-eat-dog world can bring out the worst in you, and sometimes, the best. It would be a lie to tell you I haven’t become somewhat sceptical about some things in the last decade of my life. However, I believe that when you truly learn to love yourself, the judging eyes and hateful words become meaningless. Natural is about finding yourself and being willing and able to stand up to whatever adversity comes your way.”

From the very first verse itself, “Natural” lays out some plain truths which we usually tend to turn our blind eye towards.
It talks about the humans living in this world, acting so carelessly, that they don’t believe their actions have consequences. Everything comes at a cost. You always have a choice. But only YOU can do anything about it. There is no cavalry coming from heaven for your salvation. You shall pay for your acts of crime and you shall reap the fruits of your acts of justice.
The pre-chorus and the chorus lay out the underlying message of “Natural.” This is a cold world. There is nobody for your aid. You have to survive and be the fittest, else you will be taken down. We have gone to our ‘natural’ wild states and returned to the jungle. It’s the law of the jungle in the modern cities now. So either you become the hunter or you naturally become the prey.
“Natural” single is not short of energy that we know and love from Imagine Dragons. It also speaks the truth and this pill is hard to swallow.
