One of the most popular songs from ‘The Lion King’ movie soundtrack is “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” sung by the young lion cub Simba who is to be the king of The Pride Lands in the future. The song speaks of Simba’s eagerness to be the king of the jungle which he perceives to be an enthusiastic activity as a cub.
“I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” appears in The Lion Kind movie soundtrack and is written by Elton John and Tim Rice. Elton John also contributed with “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “Circle Of Life” for the movie soundtrack. The performers on the movie song are Rowan Atkinson, Jason Weaver and Laura Williams, who also voice act for the characters of Zazu, Simba and Nala respectively.
In the movie, we see the three characters-Simba, Nala and Zazu taking a stroll through the savanna and performing the song. Simab is full of pride and youthful determination that he contradicts wise-knowledge of Zazu in the song jokingly. Nala also agrees with Simba.

The song is an ado to the youthful arrogance towards power. Simba has no idea about the responsibilities that lie ahead with assuming the throne. For the time being, he just wants to terminate Zazu (jokingly) from his service to the king.
So far, the lion cub Simba has seen what it is like to be king standing tall on the Pride Rock in front of the animals. He has not seen the tough calls and politics behind being a king. He just wants to run around, have fun and help the good animals of The Pride Lands.
While Simba sings “I just can’t wait to be king,” Zazu argues with him playfully with sarcastic comments such as “Well, I’ve never seen a king of beasts with quite so little hair” and “This child is getting wildly out of wing.”
In the movie ‘The Lion King,’ this song plays with a gorgeous dance by all the animals with Simba and Nala. Zazu tries to stop them from being so adventurous that they might get hurt in the process. For an example, we see a scene where Simba and Nala run wildly among the massive thumping feet of a herd of elephants.
Who is Zazu from ‘The Lion King’?
Zazu is a male, red-billed hornbill bird. These birds are usually spotted in savannas of sub-Saharan Africa in real life. In the movie, Zazu acts as the wise counselor for King Mufasa-the father and present King of the Pride Lands. Zazu is entrusted in keeping a watch over Simba and advise him necessary traits to become the king one day.
However, Simba is not at an age to be listening to the wise Zazu. He is full of energy and happiness running around with his betrothed Nala.
