Ariana Grande just released her fifth studio album ‘thank u, next‘ today (Feb 8) and we have a whole lot of songs to talk about. What started off as the year of breakups for Ariana Grande in 2018, she turned it around completely with songs such as “thank u, next” and “7 Rings.” In this article, we talk about the eighth track on the album titled “ghostin.”
The new album ‘thank u, next’ is posed to be massive for Ariana Grande. The singles released from the album so far have had exceptional reception from the fans and have charted quite well. “7 Rings” in particular has been dominating Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks now. Along with the album release, Ari also premiered the third and last single “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored” song and video.
The Max
However, Ari’s lyrics take the common issue of ‘ghosting’ to the next level. In this song lyrics, we find out that Ariana is stuck in a relationship. But her heart is on another. She has no choice but to leave the current boyfriend, because neither one of them are happy. She knows it and he pretends as if he does not know it. But he knows he cannot compare. Ideally, he should not have to compare himself with another man. But the heart wants what the heart wants!
Another fun fact caught by inquisitive fans are that the instrumental of the song is actually a slowed down beat of Mac Miller’s “2009” track. Mac Miller and Ariana Grande called off their engagement and relationship in early 2018, which pretty much led Ari on this path of break up songs which ended in an album.
