Ed Sheeran – BLOW Ft. Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)

“BLOW” is the fifteenth and final track on the 2019 album ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ by Ed Sheeran. The song features vocals by Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton.

No.6 Collaborations Project‘ follows Ed’s collaborations EP series, left off at #5 in 2011. The 2019 album contains a massive list of collaborations from Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Ella Mai, Eminem, Skrillex, Khalid, Travis Scott, Stormzy, Justin Bieber, Meek Mill and more. In an interview with Charmalagne Tha God, Ed Sheeran called this album a ‘compilation of artist that he is a fan of.’

“BLOW” has a Rock musical appeal with guitar and drums credited to Bruno Mars. Each artist has a separate verse on the track and Bruno Mars gets a guitar solo bit as well. The song was released as the fifth single of the album along with “Best Part Of Me” on July 5, 2019.

The song sings about the artists “gunning” towards this girl whom they promise to blow her mind. Ed Sheeran’s verse talks about him feeling like a ‘bullet jumping out f a gun’ for this woman. She makes him feel special in all the right ways and the singer just wants to return the favour.

The second verse by Chris Stapleton addresses the “freak” relationship they have. He exaggerates the sexual undertone of this song maintained throughout the song. The feelings of arousal is set afire in the singer and it has got him weak and begging for more.

In the third verse by Bruno Mars, he sings of the ‘foxy’ nature of this woman. She is the sort of a woman to get everyone’s head turned to her. He also talks about doing “white lines,” a reference to cocaine in the back seat of a limousine. The song title ‘blow’ is also slang for doing cocaine.

This Rock collaboration is unlike anything we have heard from Ed Sheeran from his discography, and this is a welcomed change. Let us hear what you think about this song in the comments below.

The album releases on July 12, 2019.
