“Money Over Fallouts” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

Intro

The intro to the song is a montage of media coverage of the shooting incident. There seems to be news tilting both ways–for and against Tory Lanez.

Tory Lanez got a lot of bad press
Serious, he’s gon’ get deported
Donkey of the day for Friday August 21st goes to Daystar Peterson

Because the police came out saying, “We didn’t even know she was shot”

Verse

The only verse on the song goes on to shed some light on the situation. The thirty thousand dollar bail is a reference to the actual bail he had to post as bail after he was arrested for alleged shooting claims.

Tory Lanez says that people love to see him framed for charges that he is not guilty of. However, Megan Thee Stallion went on Instagram Live to tell that “Yes … Tory shot me. You shot me and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying. Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand.”

Tory Lanez is also quite upset about how everyone waits for the smallest opportunity to jump on him and frame him even without knowing the true story. Even people whom he has worked with, and whom he claims to have made famous, were not hesitant to paint him guilty without even proper knowledge of the situation. Tory Lanez specifically namedrops Kehlani and Kaash Paige. Kehlani went on to post on Twitter that she would remove Tory Lanez’ verse from their collaboration “Can I.” Kaash Paige went on to Tweet the following;

In the midst of addressing this controversy, Tory Lanez goes on to shout out fellow Canadian rapper Drake’s new song “Laugh Now Cry Later.”

One of the key points in Tory Lanez’s verse is how Mega Thee Stallion did not tell the police about getting shot as soon as the police arrived. However, she did go on to say so later on.

Another major argument is about the injuries sustained by Megan Thee Stallion in the pictures she shared with the public. There is no bullet wound in her foot but rather cuts from glass. Tory questions: “how the f*** you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bones or tendons?.”

Tory Lanez also reveals that he had to go through immense trouble in his personal life due to these false accusations. Apparently, an application to buy some real estate was denied after this incident got aired. He asks them if he does not deserve a house for his name after being falsely accused.

The rapper also says that he lost a whole lot of sales (around $10 million) because of this case. But he looks at the positive side, where he gained around 10 million new fans who believe in him. So he believes he still came out victorious after everything.

Tory Lanez also adds that anybody can attempt to frame him for things he had nothing to with. But he will just focus on his goals and reach the top. He would rather focus on stacking up money instead of focusing on falling out with all the people who came out against him in this case.
