“Shivers” is the second track on Ed Sheeran’s fourth studio album ‘= (Equals).’ This is Ed Sheeran’s first major project since his collaborative album ‘No. 6’ in 2019 and follow-up to his mathematic’s inspired album series. Announcing the album, Ed Sheeran commented his experiences that inspired this brand new album; “I’ve been through love, loss, new life, grief and everything in between during the whole period of writing it, and I feel like it’s really a coming of age record.”
“Shivers” seems to talk about that feeling of butterflies in one’s stomach when doing things that mean the most to them. In the video clip released along with the song snippet, Ed Sheeran shows some of the things/people that give him shivers. The scenes include performing in front of a massive live audience, snuggling his cat, his girlfriend, and his family.
Teasing the song and music video, Ed Sheeran commented “I rented a parrot for the video, don’t let that be a waste.”

This sweet love song is a dedication to the singer’s partner. According to the music video, he meets him accidentally at a cafe and it’s instantaneous sparks. Ed compares it to being hit by a running train.
The couple goes through the initial phases of every relationship and eventually hits it off quite well. The parrots really do add to the vibrant and cheerful atmosphere of the two dancing senseless in their room.
In the song, Ed Sheeran confesses that he wants to be ‘that guy’ for her for the rest of his and her life. Kissing her, holding her, and drowning in her eyes are his favorite things to do for the rest of his life.
