A new Top Gun movie is upon us and Lady Gaga has a brand new song contribution to the movie’s official soundtrack. Titled “Hold My Hand,” the song seeks to provide some relief to anyone in need, for whatever they are going through.
Lady Gaga went on Twitter to explain her inspiration behind “Hold My Hand” and the writing process for ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’
When I wrote this song for Top Gun: Maverick, I didn’t even realize the multiple layers it spanned across the film’s heart, my own psyche, and the nature of the world we’ve been living in. I’ve been working on it for years, perfecting it, trying to make it ours.
This song is a love letter to the world during and after a very hard time. I’ve wanted you to hear it for so long. And I’m so excited to give it to you on May 3.
Lady Gaga co-wrote and co-produced this track for Top Gun: Maverick. The movie is set to release on May 27, 2022, featuring the star cast of Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, and Miles Teller.

Lady Gaga “Hold My Hand” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review
The past couple of years has taken a heavy toll on the entire world. Everyone has been affected by the global pandemic in one way or the other. Most people have lost a loved one, more people are crippled by economic stresses, and even more people were tortured mentally.
I heard from the heavens that clouds have been grey
One song cannot fix all these problems, but Lady Gaga can try. “Hold My Hand” extends an arm to anyone in need in these trying times.
Hold my hand, everything will be okay…
Pull me close, wrap me in your aching arms
Sometimes, just knowing that someone else understands your pain can ignite a spark of relief. Everyone wants to be seen and understood.
To tell me you need me? I see that you’re bleedin’
In the chorus of the song, Lady Gaga doesn’t attempt to stop people from crying. She understands that asking a hurt soul to stop crying is only going to bottle up emotions inside. Instead, she welcomes them to cry it out. How does she help them? She will be their crying shoulder until they are done.
That fear that’s inside you will lift, give it time
I can see everything you’re blind to now
Lady Gaga doesn’t see a crying and devastated person. She looks into the future and sees everything will be okay in time. But when someone is hurt and broken, these emotions cloud their judgment. Everything looks pointless and dull and lifeless. But there is life just around the corner. But the corner approaches only when you are ready to take some steps from where you are right now.
Time is an amazing thing. Let it work its magic on you. It won’t be able to make things perfect. But it will help you cope with all the imperfections of the world. And this might just be the best hand we are going to be dealt with.
In the single line outro of the song, Lady Gaga spins on an earlier lyric “I heard from the heavens.” At the beginning of the song, this line was used by Gaga to bring to light the bad news about the world. But at the end of the song, the same line, gives hope. It is as if Gaga is delivering a message from the heavens above telling us that everything will be okay if we just hold on for one more day!
