Taylor Swift – Karma Ft. Ice Spice | Lyrics Meaning Revealed

In an unlikely collaboration, Taylor Swift enlists upcoming rapper Ice Spice on a remix of her song “Karma.” Announcing the song, Taylor Swift had nothing but high praise for Ice Spice;

“I’m a massive fan of this brilliant artist and after getting to know her I can confirm: she is THE ONE to watch. So delighted to say that Karma Featuring the incredible @icespice will be out TOMORROW night at MIDNIGHT ET as a part of the new Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) deluxe album.”

The theme of the song “Karma” is that Taylor Swift relies on the universal forces of karma to get her revenge. She doesn’t want to exert revenge by herself but cherishes in the knowledge that whatever bad is done by someone will come back to them thanks to karma.

The first-time collaborators hopped on a brand new music video for the song as well. Watch below.

In the new verse by Ice Spice, she talks about different ways karma can haunt you for the sins you’ve committed. From a cheque bouncing back (getting declined at the bank) to your house catching on fire, karma can manifest in different ways and proportions. But, karma is nothing but fair. You only get what you deserve.

Watch her put ya opps on a throne (Damn)”

This line contradicts the theme of the song. Ice Spice talks about her opposition climbing to the throne and her having to watch them on top from the sidelines. She might be thinking that she deserves the throne over her enemies. But, karma is always fair. If the oppositions deserve a spot on the throne, they will get it. Your time shall come, too. But you gotta be patient and work toward it.

Karma will serve what’s right for everyone–both good and bad. Let karma handle things and focus on your goals. If you decide to take ‘karma’ into your own hands, you just end up accumulating more karma points, most likely bad points at that. So, don’t fret over things that can naturally resolve themself.
