Troye Sivan had to get dressed in drag to send the point across in the song “One Of Your Girls.” The song threads the line between being heterosexual and homosexual and Troye being the angel who welcomes straight guys to the other side of the gates.
“One Of Your Girls” was released as the third single from Troye Sivan’s third studio album ‘Something To Give Each Other.’ The song follows the previous singles from the album, namely; “Rush” and “Still Got It.” Troye called this album a “kiss on a dancefloor, a date turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer, Party after party, after party after after party. Heartbreak, freedom. Community, sisterhood, friendship. All that. <3.”
The inspiration for “One Of Your Girls” came from real-life experiences. Troye Sivan explained the inspiration behind the song “This thing kept happening where I was being approached by guys who’d previously or historically identified as straight. They were flirting with me, saying there was something in me that they were interested in. I just felt all these different things. Firstly, I was placing them on such a pedestal. I was like, why is this so hot? And also questioning myself because I’d always end up heartbroken. I think I knew I wasn’t treating myself with the respect I deserved by being the secret or the experiment.”
The music video for the song features Troye Sivan dressed in drag dancing around American singer and songwriter Ross Lynch.

Troye Sivan “One Of Your Girls” Song Meaning and Lyrics Review
Troye Sivan explained the inspiration behind the song as being approached by straight men in clubs whispering that Troye exerts a certain vibe that attracted them to him. This is probably one of the most exhilarating feelings for Troye as this makes him feel like the man who does the impossible.
Troye Sivan knows these men are wandering into the unknown approaching him. Heterosexuals being attracted to another man is a novel concept. The things we don’t know scare us. So, Troye knows better than to spook them away by dumping the unknowns on them.
I’ll be like one of your girls or your homies
So, he is willing to dress in drag and pretend to be just like one of his other girls for the initiation phase. He will whisper all the right things in his ears until his fears are subdued. Or, he can play the field on a completely different angle, too. He could pretend to be one of his homies as well. Grab some beers, watch some sports, and talk about girls, until his walls come down.
Why would Troye go into so much trouble?
You should trademark your face…
You should insure that waist…
These people who approach him are pure works of art. They have faces that melt his heart and bodies that raise his hair. And he knows that these men are treading into strange waters. He wants to ease them into this new universe they are treading into.
