Troye Sivan had to get dressed in drag to send the point across in the song “One Of Your Girls.” The song threads the line between being heterosexual and homosexual and Troye being the angel who welcomes straight guys to the other side of the gates.
“One Of Your Girls” was released as the third single from Troye Sivan’s third studio album ‘Something To Give Each Other.’ The song follows the previous singles from the album, namely; “Rush” and “Still Got It.” Troye called this album a “kiss on a dancefloor, a date turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer, Party after party, after party after after party. Heartbreak, freedom. Community, sisterhood, friendship. All that. <3.”
The inspiration for “One Of Your Girls” came from real-life experiences. Troye Sivan explained the inspiration behind the song “This thing kept happening where I was being approached by guys who’d previously or historically identified as straight. They were flirting with me, saying there was something in me that they were interested in. I just felt all these different things. Firstly, I was placing them on such a pedestal. I was like, why is this so hot? And also questioning myself because I’d always end up heartbroken. I think I knew I wasn’t treating myself with the respect I deserved by being the secret or the experiment.”
