The Chainsmokers – “All We Know” Ft. Phoebe Ryan (Full Lyrics Review)

“All We Know” is the next big thing coming out of The Chainsmokers’ portfolio and we just can’t wait for it to drop in a couple of days (30th Friday). Most likely the song will leak tomorrow prior to the official release but we will not be posting the leak here. So hold your breath till Friday, because this is an awesome track.

Listen to the full “All We Know” by The Chainsmokers

Phoebe Ryan provides vocals on “All We Know” along with The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggart. This is the second time Taggart has given vocals to a (very possible) hit song, the last one being “Closer” featuring Halsey.

Sadly, pre-orders are not available for the track, but do stay with us as we will update the links as soon as they are available.

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “All We Know” by The Chainsmokers

The lyrics are simple and surreal in this track and Phoebe’s voice is angelic. Her voice adds that heavenly touch that’s in par with the theme of the song.

First verse goes as;

Fighting flames of fire
Hand on the burning wires
We don’t care anymore
Art, we’re fading never
We keep wasting colors
Maybe we should let this go

This is a song about heartbreak, but the lyrics and the tune and EDM cleverly disguises the fact.

“Flames of fire” are the hardships that seem to pop out of nowhere during the last lap of a relationship. Stuff comes up out of nowhere and it hurts and it burns, but you try to throw out the fire in the name of what you used to have. “Burning wires” again mean the same thing in a different light.

A point comes when they wouldn’t care about it anymore. How do you keep an artwork from fading away? You keep on repainting over it. The Chainsmokers try to compare their ending relationship to an art being washed away.

Then we come to the chorus of the song;

We’re falling apart, still we hold together
We’ve passed the end so we chase forever
‘Cause this is all we know
This feeling’s all we know
I ride my bike up to the world
Down the streets right through the city
I’ll go everywhere you go
From Chicago to the coast
You tell me, “Hit this and let’s go
Blow the smoke right through the window”
‘Cause this is all we know

The singer knows that the relationship is coming to an end, but they still hold on. They have hit the breaking point, but they are still holding on. Why? Because this is all we know.

The feeling that somehow there’s a chance, keeps you trying to hold on to thin air.

I believe the next few lines tells us how the two lovers grew up as a couple-starting from the bike to facing the world-from streets to city. This is giving me some throwback into “Closer” as well, but that song has an entirely different meaning altogether. “All We Know” gives a little thumbs up to the stoner life as well-“hit this and blow the smoke”-well, what did you expect, it’s The Chainsmokers.

EDM fused post-chorus of “All We Know” follows;

‘Cause this is all we know
‘Cause this is all we know
‘Cause this is all we know

Second verse of the song rings up;

Never face each other
One but different covers
We don’t care anymore
Two hearts still beating
On with different rhythms
Maybe we should let this go

I’m assuming they speak about sleeping arrangements when they say “never face each other..” Or it could refer to entirely different aspects like, never facing their difficulties and differences. I might need your views on this. But my first annotation tallies with the next line about ‘bed covers.’ They sleep under one blanket, but they are truly in two different covers. It’s a pretty beautiful way of saying they are not on the same page or not truly connected to each other. Kudos!

Their hearts ‘still’ beat together, but in different rhythms. Nice lyrics right there. And again they ponder the question if they should let this go. But there’s only one barrier-hanging on to lost causes is all we know!

The chorus and the post-chorus follows once more and “All We Know” comes to an end, leaving us mesmerized by the mellow EDM tunes and the fusion of Andrew Taggart and Phoebe Ryan’s voices.

The Chainsmokers seems to be doing everything right at this point and we would love to see a music video for “All We Know” as well. Phoebe Ryan needs to get some spotlight.

Comment your favorite lyrics from the song.

One thought on “The Chainsmokers – “All We Know” Ft. Phoebe Ryan (Full Lyrics Review)

  1. The first verse should be:

    Fighting flames of fire
    HANG on to burning wires
    We don’t care anymore
    ARE WE FADING LOVERS?
    We keep wasting colors
    Maybe we should let this go

    The music track cover represents many of the lyrics in the song such as ‘We don’t care anymore’, ‘fading lovers’ and ‘fighting flames’ so it doesn’t make sense to not have lyrics shown on the cover.
    And the chorus should be:

    We’re falling apart, still we hold together
    We’ve passed the end so we chase forever
    ‘Cause this is all we know
    This feeling’s all we know
    I ride my bike up to the ROAD
    Down the streets right through the city
    I’ll go everywhere you go
    From Chicago to the coast
    You tell me, “Hit this and let’s go
    Blow the smoke right through the window”
    ‘Cause this is all we know

    second verse should be:

    Never face each other
    ONE BED, DIFFERENT COVERS
    We don’t care anymore
    Two hearts still beating
    On with different rhythms
    Maybe we should let this go
