selena gomez back to you music video

Watch the Weird Retro Video for “Back To You” by Selena Gomez (Review)

When “Back To You” single was released by Selena Gomez last month, we expected a very adorable and cliche music video for it. The song comes from the official soundtrack of the second season of ‘13 Reasons Why‘ TV series. Selena Gomez also did a song for the first season of the same TV series named “Only You.”

The new single “Back To You” has the singer reeling back to a past relationship, from which she just cannot seem to move past. The whole idea behind the song is that no matter who or how many people come to her life, she would just keep going back to that one special person. And she very well knows any relationship with that one person usually ends up in heartbreak.

The new music video released for “Back To You” shows Selena Gomez at a dead-beat party and she is being chatted up by a guy. It is evident that she has absolutely zero interest in this guy, and she keeps eyeing another guy across the floor. Even he seems bored even though a girl is chatting him up. And their eyes meet.

The music video for “Back To You” takes the form of a silent drama from there onward. To understand what is going on, dialogues are given in text.

Selena Gomez Sets a Car on Fire in “Back To You” Music Video

The two people meet in secrecy-away from the dull party crowd-and decide to steal a car, and they do. They roam around different places, traveling in the car. When it comes to the time to get rid of the car, the guy hesitates saying “that car is life.” But, Selena Gomez ends up setting the car on fire to get rid of evidence of theft. This turns into a huge argument between the two and they walk away from each other. They walk back to the party and… repeat!

The whole music video starts again from the beginning. We believe this perfectly captures the theme of the song of ‘reeling back to that one person’ no matter how or what sets them apart.

Far Cry 3 video game taught us that the definition of ‘insanity’ is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. This is the exact kind of behavior happening in this music video and song. Is love insanity?

“Back To You” music video is simple, but yet it captures the essence of the song perfectly. We love that combination.
