The Silk City project keeps on expanding with the fourth single released today. The new song “Electricity” is a collaboration with Dua Lipa by Mark Ronson and Diplo who form ‘Silk City.’ The new song follows previous singles from the project: “Feel About You” featuring Mapei, “Loud” featuring GoldLink and Desiigner, and “Only Can Get Better” featuring Daniel Merryweather.
The new single “Electricity” takes place during the 2003 power blackout, and Dua Lipa decides to throw a party at her house. So naturally, most of the video is engulfed in mild darkness. However, the song speaks about the electrifying connection between two people in love.
The music video is directed by Bradley and Pablo, while Dua Lipa’s electrifying choreography is done by Theresa “Toogie” Barcelo. Lipa’s slick and sexy moves are a sigh to adore.

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “Electricity”
Verse 1
The song is a reflection of the singer’s feelings towards the person she is in love with. She goes on to say that even ‘electricity’ does not compare to what she feels when she is with him. Usually, the term ‘electrifying’ is used to express an extreme sensation of joy. The singer says her feelings are beyond this.
Pre-chorus
The singer is aware that her lover has been burnt by love before. So, she promises to treat him “differently.” She says she will make him feel like how he makes her feel: electrifying.
Chorus
She has no intentions of leaving him. Their love has no limit. And she is hooked to this feeling that she gets when she is with him
Verse 2
The second verse hints that this love has not even blossomed fully yet. She wants to make it happen, but she is scared to act on it. She is scared that she will be friend-zoned by this guy. She says she would be heartbroken, if so.
Bridge/Outro
These lines take a sexual nature in this song. Dua Lipa comments that she is ‘ready’ for it, which could be the relationship or a fling. She is feeling electrified and ready. This is a very vocalized invitation for the guy in subject. Hope he reads the message well.
The Silk City projects, so far, have been lyrically easy and musically soothing. Mark Ronson’s influence on the music is quite evident on this track.
