XXXTentacion and Killstation – Rebirth (2016) (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)

XXXTentacion join vocals with Killstation for the final track of the new album ‘XXXTentacion Presents: Members Only, Vol. 4’ released today. The album dropped on what would have been X’s 21st birthday on January 23, 2019. The 20-year-old rapper was killed at gunpoint in Florida in June 2018. The new album is both a homage and a reflection of X.

“Rebirth (2016) is not the only track X has worked on ‘Members Only, Vol. 4’ album. He appears in six tracks, namely; “Sauce! (MOV4),” “Gassed Up,” “Touch Eem Body,” “Make Eem Run!” and “Hi Wendy!.”

“Rebirth (2016)” is something special. This ‘song’ is in fact a monologue by X stripped from his 2016 live Periscope sessions. The instrumental beat over this monologue has been produced by Killstation.

In this monologue by X, he talks about how your destiny is already written for you. He emphasizes that somethings in life may be credited to karma and you should stop worrying about them. But you have to work hard to reverse your path for the better. Those who do, will succeed the best says X. What you deserve, depending on your actions, will come to you eventually if you work hard for it.

Jahseh Onfroy himself comes from a rough upbringing and has made a quite successful breakthrough with his music. For the short span of his career, he had released two studio albums prior to his death and one posthumous album in December 2018.

XXXTentacion also talks about being shot down in “Rebirth (2016).” He believed his enemies would eventually catch up to him for the work he is doing in music. However, the real gun down in June 2018 is allegedly regarding a drug deal gone wrong.

X strongly states that one gets a life they deserve. If they are good, the life will be good or turn out to be good and vice versa. Karma is the main judge and jury of life according to the late rapper.
