Eminem – Never Love Again | Lyrics Review and Song Meaning

“Never Love Again” is the 14th track on Eminem’s 2020 album ‘Music to Be Murdered By.’ This song is a veiled love-hate relationship with drugs. Eminem disguises the real theme of the song by narrating about a love story-a heartbreak anthem. However, the song could be interpreted in both ways.

Eminem released his much anticipated eleventh studio album titled ‘Music to Be Murdered By’ on January 17, 2020. Although the album was heavily awaited by Stans, the release of the album was a surprise as Eminem nor any official party gave out any confirmation of the release. ‘Music to Be Murdered By’ album consists a staggering 20 tracks and is considered as a double album. The album is seemingly an address to the current status of the Rap God, addressing his friends and foes in the game. This recent surprise project follows Eminem’s 2018 surprise hit ‘Kamikaze‘ album that literally attacked every disdainful aspect in society including mumble rap.

In “Never Love Again,” Eminem talks about his former love for drugs. The theme of drug abuse is a well-documented fact in Eminem’s songs in his album ‘Relapse’ and ‘Recovery.’ Ever since Eminem has been drug and alcohol-free. By saying that he will never love again, Eminem confesses that he will never fall into the habit of drugs again.

Eminem talks about being unable to survive without drugs and at one point, they were inseparable. The money, fame and stardom bought him all the possible drugs he could find and this itself destroyed him and his career. Eminem talks about how he was developing a tolerance to drugs which made him abuse it even more and at one point it even drove him almost to his death bed.

Eminem names some of the frequent drugs he used to consume back then, which includes Xanax, valium, Ambien, Tylenol, MOTRIN and Ibuprofen.
