Bebe Rexha – Baby I’m Jealous Ft. Doja Cat | Lyrics Meaning & Song Review

Bebe Rexha released a brand new single “Baby I’m Jealous” featuring Doja Cat. The song is part of the Rexha’s upcoming second studio album, yet to be titled. On the song, singers lament about being felt second to another girl who is with the guy the singers want.

Bebe Rexha talked about the real-life inspiration that led her to write the song; “The inspiration was based on a real story. I got caught up on Instagram and I was dating this one guy and I thought he was doing some shady stuff on the Internet and I kind of got jealous of the girls that he liked the pictures of and I got really upset and I went to the studio and my collaborator Justin Tranter was there and I was like “Justin this is what’s going on” and I’m just really upset.”

Bebe Rexha also teased a behind-the-scenes clip of the music video being recorded. And things are about to get hot!

The music video also features cameos by Charli D’Amelio, Avani Gregg, and Nikita Dragun.

In the song, Bebe Rexha sings about feeling very insecure about herself that another girl was picked over her by her crush. The guy might have not even known about the competition for him. Bebe Rexha might have been just a few words too late. Or maybe she did try an fail. And now it kills her to see this guy with another girl. She cannot help but feel beaten by this girl.

Bebe Rexha confesses that she loves herself. It is not as if she lives hating herself all the time. However, incidents like this make her feel unworthy and unloved. She might even throw a few curse words at herself out of anger and desperation.

In the second verse, Bebe Rexha goes so far to say that she even despised her physical looks after getting beaten in this love contest. Looking thin versus having a good meal is always a difficult balance.

In an interesting twist of events, in the third verse by Doja Cat, she plays the role of the girl who actually won over this guy. Although she starts off saying that she stole her man, she also admits that he is “trash.” This implies that Rexha did not lose much. After Doja Cat runs her course with the guy, he might go running to Bebe Rexha, but she is pre-warned.
