“Chemtrails Over the Country Club” is the lead single and the title track of Lana Del Rey’s 2021 album of the same name. The singer announced the release of the single a day prior on social media. Much like the new album, this song is very personal to Lana as she sings about her girlfriends, siblings, and squeezing in her ‘work’ life in between everything.
Lana Del Rey announced her seventh studio album ‘Chemtrails Over the Country Club‘ expected to release in March 2021. She released the first promotional single, titled “Let Me Love You Like a Woman” in October 2020.
In an interview with Interview Magazine, Lana Del Rey talked about the inspiration behind the song; “I hear ‘Chemtrails’ and I think “work”, but I also think of my stunning girlfriends, who so much of the album is about, and my beautiful siblings. “Chemtrails” is the title track because it mentions them all and it mentions wanting so much to be normal and realizing that when you have an overactive, eccentric mind, a record like Chemtrails is just what you’re going to get.”

“Chemtrails Over the Country Club” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review
Recovering from that magical change of everything through the midway of the song and the video, we will try to breakdown what this song is about.
Throughout the song, Lana Del Rey fantasizes about her life in the midwest with her lover.
The title of the song, ‘chemtrails‘ is short for ‘chemical trails’ and is a conspiracy theory. It “posits the erroneous belief that long-lasting condensation trails are “chemtrails” consisting of chemical or biological agents left in the sky by high-flying aircraft, sprayed for nefarious purposes undisclosed to the general public.” In short, the emissions from aircrafts, which usually appear as white trails behind them, are believed to be gases purposefully emitted by authorities for undisclosed purposes.
Lana Del Rey invites her bae to live under these chemtrails in a country club. The underlying idea behind this is her wish to be carefree of the burdens of this world. While she acknowledges the existence of so many issues in the world (highlighted through the ridiculous chemtrails conspiracy), she also wants to spend more time with her lover than worry about these problems. She even invites him to metaphorically remove his turquoise and jewelry, signaling her wish to rid themselves of worldly possessions. Lana just wants him and his presence next to her.
