In the two verses of the song, Morgan Wallen thinks about all the different ways she must be trying to move on from the memories they built together.
Did she change his name on her contacts so his random text messages don’t cause problems with her current partner? Does she avoid going to places that they used to frequent? Worst of all, does she tell her current partner that Morgan is a thing of the past and nothing is ever going to happen with them again.
For some reason (likely for his own comfort of headspace), Morgan believes that she is going to end up with him again. He thinks that she is going to break up with her partner and end up in his arms again.

He realizes that she is probably still mad at him. She probably still curses his name. But, Morgan wants to believe that they still have a chance at a life together.
Morgan Wallen wants to believe that she still might be thinking about him. When she is in his bed, does she think about the singer? When she is sipping some alcohol with her current partner, does she remember all the good times they had together?
This might be a far cry, but the singer’s only source of sanity is the image of her back in his arms. He believes that her current partner is in for a surprise when she decides to call it quits with him and come back to his arms. But, it might not be a plausible reality.
The only sliver of hope for the singer is the fact that she has not blocked his mobile number yet. He knows she receives her text messages although we don’t know if she ever responds back.
Hope is a double-edged sword. It cuts in both good and bad ways. Only time is going to tell us the fate of the singer.
