Selena Gomez released her third studio album ‘Rare’ on January 10, 2020, marking the year as an official heartbreak calendar. The album inspired by Selena’s life treads close to addressing her past relationships that have failed. Her most notable breakup was with the singer Justin Bieber who married model Hailey Baldwin in 2019. However, on this album, Selena Gomez talks about moving on, in songs such as “Look At Her Now” and “Dance Again.”

On “Ring,” however, Selena Gomez boasts about having the upper hand in her relationships. Being a celebrity of her stature, she must be getting all sorts of romantic offerings on an hourly basis. Even so, her dating life has been quite exclusive, and in it, she suffered.

In the lyrics to the song, Selena Gomez describes of a boy who texted her 23 times back-to-back urging for her love and affection. Selena also brings in a reference to the legendary basketball icon Michael Jordan who also wears a jersey bearing number 23. Selena says that she is ‘slam-dunking’ her boy troubles much like the legendary Michael Jordan does in the game. G.O.A.T. is an abbreviation to ‘Greatest Of All Time,’ a phrase used to label legendary personalities throughout history.

Selena Gomez boasts that she has all these boys on strings and dances the way she wants. Maybe all of them were her puppets, but not the one she wanted!
