Cardi B Hits #01 on Billboard and Throws Some Shade at Taylor Swift

It is always a tough battle to the #1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 chart and this was the first time in a long while where two female artists competed to the top spot. This was probably one of the only times where two solo female acts had such fierce competition for the number one spot. However, after 12 weeks on the chart, Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” has dethroned Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” song.

Bodak Yellow” has had a very impressive run on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, given that this is Cardi B’s first major breakout single. Cardi B is also the fifth female rapper to top the chart, after Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim, Shawnna and Iggy Azalea. She is also the second female soloist to hit the top on a debut single after Megahn Trainor with “All About That Bass.” So, undoubtedly this is a momentous occasion to celebrate for Cardi B and so she did.

Cardi B was invited to Atlantic Records after the news broke out and below is the footage.

“Thank you everybody. I’m very happy. I’m very honored.”

Says Cardi B in her celebratory speech. After that she went on to say how her friends and family helped her get to the #01 spot on Billboard Hot 100 by streaming the song and downloading the song on iTunes.

Shade or not? You decide. But Cardi B seemed to be genuinely excited about having overthrown the queen of Pop music-Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift’s #01 run on the chart was invaded abruptly and shockingly by Cardi B. “Look What You Made Me Do” debuted on the chart at #77 and within a week rose to #1 spot, marking the highest growth during a week. However, the single from ‘Reputation‘ album lasted only three weeks as number one due to steady streams and downloads of “Bodak Yellow” compared to LWYMMD.

The fight is not over yet, as there is still fierce competition for the #01 spot on Billboard Hot 100 chart. Post Malone’s new single “Rockstar” debuted on #02 spot on the chart, pushing LWYMMD single to #03 and threatening “Bodak Yellow”s reign as well.
