“Love To Hate Me” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

Verse 1

In the first verse, Rosé and Jennie sing about how certain people have fallen out of their comfort zone watching BLACKPINK reach the zenith of success and fame. This might include people from their personal circles as well as from the industry.

While Rosé’s lines take a more general tone, Jennie’s lines seem to talk to her significant other. She finds it confusing why this guy stresses over nothing when all she wants to do is stack up money.

Pre-chorus

These lines by Jisoo, Rosé and Jennie talk about how any moment spent fighting is a waste. There is no need for negativity in their lives, especially when it is all baseless. All of this because, the BLACKPINK girls have been blowing up all over the world and the others cannot tolerate to watch it happen.

Chorus

Jennie, Rosé and Lisa perform the chorus of the track. In these lines, they send out a clear message saying that they don’t want any negativity and hate in their lives. If you can’t be happy watching the girls succeed, are you really a friend/fan/partner? The girls have no time for fakes in their lives.

Verse 2

In the second verse by Jisoo, she tells us that she has no time for all the haters around her. She is going to ignore them so hard that their cries and complaints are only going to be background noise, almost inaudible. Another reason for them to be so inaudible is that the cheers around her, especially her concerts, are getting louder and louder.

Verse 3

In the third verse by Lisa, she sings that she would rather be alone than with a person who secretly wishes her ill. But these people’s wishes are unheard and immaterialized. Because the BLACKPINK girls slay too hard for any of these ill wishes to bear fruits. Lisa also says that she has a bone to pick with the Cupid as he keeps on sending all these fake people towards her. But she will not get distracted by these manifestations around her, and she will keep on cruising with her fellow group members.
