“WUSYANAME” is the second single by Tyler, The Creator from his upcoming 2021 album ‘CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST.’ The song also features guest vocals by YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Ty Dolla $ign–blink and you miss them. Sticking to the unraveling theme of the album, the song runs on a 90’s R&B vibe, and the music video, too, right in the same ballpark.

Tyler, The Creator announced his sixth studio album ‘CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST,’ releasing on June 25, 2021. The album follows his infamous project ‘IGOR‘ from 2019. The first single off the new album, titled “LUMBERJACK” was released on June 16, 2021.

“WUSYANAME” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

Intro

In the intro to the song, voice actor and rapper Jaspher Dolphin narrates a story about California. He talks about the mechanized life in California, despite being known as the Sunshine State. When he was wandering aimlessly in this city, he meets her!

Verse

For some reason, Tyler, The Creator tells her that she looks malnourished. Yes, this is his opening line with a girl he just met and fell in love with. Fortunately, he is extremely talented in music to cover up for the absolute lack of womanizing skills. Moving on, Tyler had the best intentions in mind when he called her malnourished. He wants to offer her maple syrup on bread and eggs. Yes, it did not get any better!

In the music video of the song, we see Tyler walking behind the girl he just met. The girl looks extremely uninterested in everything Tyler has to say and does.

Unbeaten, Tyler ups the anti. He offers her to fly with him to Cannes, France, and attend the annual Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival) which previews the best movies across all genres. Still, she looks unmoved.

Tyler tries a different approach next. He offers her some material luxuries hoping she would fall for them. He talks about visiting the best parties, dancing, perfume shopping in France (some of the best in the world), and even a skin exfoliation routine.

This doesn’t seem to work either.

We can sit and talk
You can tell me everything that’s on your chest, baby, get it off
You are my type, you a bright light
I’m like a moth, this is not a game

Tyler, The Creator unpacks all the lines in the book of romance in the end. He offers to take care of her, kiss and cuddle her, listen to her all day, and promises that she is his type. She is a bright light and Tyler is attracted to her like a moth!

Moths attract to the light source and end up burning themselves from the heat of the bulbs or fire. The same is common for Tyler. The girl he followed takes a seat with her boyfriend on a picnic table. Curtains!

All this time, Tyler didn’t even know her name. So, rewind back to the start and ask her ‘what’s your name?’
