“You Right” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review

In the song, we hear Doja Cat being torn between two guys. She is already with a man who makes her happy. But there is something about this other guy that makes her crave for him. She knows it will most likely be just a physical endeavor, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

And you right
You right, I got my guy
But I, I can’t help it, I want you

Doja Cat is a grown-up. She knows life is no fairytale where you find your prince charming at the darkest point of your life and turns your life upside-down. But she knows she can dream. She can fantasize about some forbidden treasures.

In the second verse by The Weeknd, he sings that he feels the same way about her. But we also come to know that Doja Cat has been dipping her toes in the unholy waters. The Weeknd sings; “I feel that energy (Oh, yeah) when you’re on top of me.”

The Weeknd knows that Doja Cat is undecided. She is torn between loyalty and a guilty pleasure. The Weeknd knows he holds the aces. He sings how a couple of strokes can make up her mind forever. After all, it’s the Weeknd!
