Kanye West Talks About ‘Smashing’ Sisters-in-Law in “XTCY” (Lyrics Review)

Kanye West has been nothing short of controversial all through his career that some might argue his career is built upon this spotlight of controversy. The latest song released, titled “XTCY” is further proof on this. The song title is read as ‘ecstasy,’ a drug which enhances senses, energy, and desire for pleasure. The song has been a part of Kanye’s ‘ye’ album era but never was released until now. DJ Clark Kent explained the events surrounding the release of the song on Twitter today.

The song was released today, free, on a popular file-sharing network WeTransfer. It is written by DJ Clark Kent and Kanye West himself.

The cover art for “XTCY” includes a blackened background with the letters ‘XTCY’ in capital letters and within the letters, a popular picture of recent can be seen. The picture seen in the letters is a picture uploaded by Kylie Jenner on Instagram from her 21st birthday party occurred on August 10. The picture includes the Kardashian family-Kylie Jenner, Kendal Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian and Kris Jenner. Kanye West is married to Kim Kardashian, which makes Kylie, Kendall, Khloe and Kourtney, his sisters-in-law. This adds to the controversy of the lyrics in the song.

The lyrics to the song are very explicit and hence, proceed with caution. We will elaborate on some of the lyrics which makes this song controversial, to say the least.

Lyrics Review and Song Meaning of “XTCY”

‘Ecstasy’ is an emotion of overwhelming joy. On the other hand, it is also slang for the drug MDM/Molly, which enhances the need for sexual pleasures. The latter meaning ties better with the contents of the lyrics of the song.

Verse 1

The first verse of “XTCY” starts off with Kanye admitting that his thoughts are sicker than anyone of us could imagine. His controversial ideas such as saying “slavery was a choice,”unnatural love for Donald Trump,”criticisms of Obama,” and acts such as the 2007 MTV VMA moment with Taylor Swift, and even in music such as the highly frowned and worshiped “Famous” music video are to name a few.

However, Kanye takes controversy to a whole new level when he does not want to bow down to a person who has smashed (had sex with) sisters-in-law. Kanye counterattacks them by saying he has four such sisters! And Kanye accurately predicts our reaction to this lyric in his next lyric.

“Those are your sisters!!!” would be the next thing coming out of our mouths and this is the next line on “XTCY.” When the masses shout ‘lock him up,’ Kanye says he needs a bigger hot tub to get all the sisters in…

Chorus

In these lyrics we find Kanye West throwing some shade at the Instagram models. They have big butts, but are dumb, surviving through posting sultry pictures on social media.

Verse 2

In the second verse of “XTCY,” Kanye changes the ‘smashing sisters’ line to another controversy. He challenges us who have had sex with girls, whereas he had recorded him having sex with the girls. Again, he stays one step ‘sicker’ than the rest of us.

Verse 3

Kanye West tries to trump us all again. He says that when the rest of us were going after escorts, he was the one who was employing them.

All three verses of “XTCY” are attempts to prove that Kanye West is better (or sicker) than all of us. We would not dare argue with this!

Kanye West has his unique ways of expressing himself and this is one of those tracks that took it to the next level. We enjoyed his raw humor and style. Let us know what you think about the new song “XTCY” by Kanye. Loved it or hated it?
