Post Malone – Circles (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)

Post Malone just released the third single off of his upcoming third studio album ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding.’ The new track titled “Circles” takes the theme of a crumbling relationship that the singer is in, running in circles and not seeing an end.

Post Malone released “Wow.” and “Goodbyes” as the two initial singles off of his upcoming album. Another song, “Sunflower,” was released as a promotional track on the ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse’ animated movie. The brand new single “Circles” was released on August 30, 2019, and will likely be the final single before the album drops on September 6th.

“Circles” suffered a leak in July this year. A snippet of the song surfaced online in July and the full song leaked in early August. Post Malone assured that there is a new beat to the song on Budlight Dive Tour; “it’s got a f*cking fat groove, and I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”

The song takes on a relationship the singer is in and seeing no console in it. The thumbnail to the track shows Post Malone in shining armour in a dense thicket. He has a sullen mood. The entire scene reflects a thorny mess. Listen to the audio below.

In the first verse of “Circles,” Post talks about how the relationship ran through the course even without them realizing it. They may have lied to themselves that they were doing everything to fix it. They could not see the disaster until it was too late to turn it around. Now the relationship is running in circles.

In the chorus of the song, Post Malone explains the current situation of their relationship. With time the flame died and they were just blowing whispers to keep the flame alive. No matter what they do and how hard they try, they still end up with their relationship dying cold, hence the reference to the relationship running in circles.

The second verse of the track gives a lot of props to ‘sex’ being the sole saviour of their relationship thus far. However, Posty also confesses that he had a vision that this relationship was doomed from the start, but he carried on because the girl thought it was special. Little did they know that it was only the sex that was special.

Post Malone asks the girl to make up her mind and move on from this relationship as there is nothing to be salvaged anymore. He literally asks the girl and pleads himself to run away from this endless, hopeless loop of a relationship.
