The Weeknd – Save Your Tears | Lyrics Meaning & Song Review

“Save Your Tears” is the eleventh track on The Weeknd’s 2020 album ‘After Hours.’ The song narrates a personal experience of The Weeknd with an ex-girlfriend. As usual, Abel is the villain in this love story too.

After Hours‘ is The Weeknd’s fourth studio album released on March 20, 2020. The album produced singles such as “Blinding Lights,” “Heartless,” title track “After Hours” and “Scare To Live” all throughout 2020. Abel himself called this album his ‘PSYCHOTIC CHAPTER’ at the reveal of the album.

In the song, Abel describes a scene of a crowded room where he sees her ex dancing and having fun. She sees Abel across the room and all the emotions come crashing down. She sheds a tear. Selena Gomez, an ex-girlfriend of The Weeknd, has a song titled “Crowded Room” from her album ‘Rare.’

Abel admits that he broke this girl’s heart. Once is all it takes to not forgive. So she did not even bother asking him why he broke her heart. She just walked away. However, The Weeknd tries to give us the reason for this split: “I broke your heart like someone did to mine.” Poor attempt, Weeknd!
