The Weeknd – Too Late | Lyrics Meaning & Song Review

“Too Late” is the second track on The Weeknd’s 2020 album ‘After Hours.’ In this track, The Weeknd is heard apologizing to a former lover for not being there to support their relationship. He feels as if he is the reason for the breakup.

After Hours‘ is The Weeknd’s fourth studio album released on March 20, 2020. The album produced singles such as “Blinding Lights,” “Heartless,” title track “After Hours” and “Scare To Live” all throughout 2020. Abel himself called this album his ‘PSYCHOTIC CHAPTER’ at the reveal of the album.

The Weeknd goes on to sing that the environment they live in has a big impact on their relationship. He calls it ‘hell’ most likely due to its temptations for sins. He followed a similar message in the song “Escape From LA” on the album.

Abel laments that their relationship came to an unfortunate ending because he was not there for her. He was the missing piece in their puzzling relationship. Now it is too late to save anything. Broken glasses cannot be the same ever again.
