Demi Lovato is planning to release her eighth studio album ‘HOLY FVCK’ on August 20, 2022. The album contained singles such as “SKIN OF MY TEETH” and “SUBSTANCE.” This is Demi’s follow-up project to her 2021 album ‘Dancing With The Devil…The Art of Starting Over.’
The song “29” is about Demi Lovato’s former relationship with the actor Wilmer Valderrama. The two celebrities met when Demi was 17 and Wilmer was 29. Wilmer, however, had waited until Demi turned 18 to date her. Coming a full circle, Demi is now turning 29 herself. And she realizes that the age gap between them, when they dated, was not natural. Releasing the song, Demi said “29 is a record about the wisdom that comes with age. 🖤”

Verse 1
In the first verse of the song, Demi Lovato sings how she was a minor when things started heating up between her and Wilmer Valderrama. At the time of their meeting, Demi Lovato was merely 17 years old and Wilmer was 29 years old. Demi tries to recall if ‘consent’ even meant anything to her back in that age.
Demi was too young to even drink at the time, but she was able to date someone who was 12 years elder than her.
