Watch Michael Phelps Lip Sync to Eminem’s “Lose Yourself”

It’s amazing how a song from the past can still give me goose bumps. Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” song has that effect on me and probably will have till the end of times. “Lose Yourself” was released 14 years ago, and it’s still one of the most empowering songs out there.

“Lose Yourself” was composed by Eminem for the ‘8 Mile’ movie soundtrack. The track went on to win a a Grammy in 2004 for ‘Record of The Year’. The song has been covered and remastered and reproduced countless times.

Michael Phelps is one of the most decorated Olympians of our time. He has won 23 gold medals in swimming events at Olympics and is the man to hold the record for the most Olympic gold medals. He truly is a legend in his own accord. So it is only justifiable that Michael Phelps uses Eminem’s songs to boost his moral before the events.

Michael Phelps attended first ever LSB All-Stars: LIVE event on Spike. Among the many start studded attendees who performed different lip syncs, the star of the night was Michael Phelps who delivered an amazing lip sync of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.”

Michael Phelps even had the backstage properly arranged for the full performance. He re-enacted the first few scenes from the original “Lose Yourself” music video that shows Eminem preparing himself to rap battle in the underground rap arenas. The background setting was near perfect in all ways to the original scene from the music video and Phelps was even dressed in a hoodie like Eminem.

The original music video shows a “sweaty, knees weak, arms heavy” Eminem whereas Phelps in his performance looks quite cool and “calm and ready.”

When he enters the stage the crowd goes wild and sings along to the song that’s playing in the background, while the other guest stars too sing “Lose Yourself” with heart.

Eminem Responds to Michael Phelp’s Performance

It takes some special effort to get Eminem on social media and this news sure got the attention of the Rap God. He went on Twitter and tweeted “But wait until you see me swim,” in a joking manner, and he tagged the YouTube link to Phelp’s performance.

Many other celebrities too attended the Lip Sync Battle: All Stars event, including Olivia Munn, Terry Crews, and John Legend. You can catch the entire show on Spike.
