“Father” is the third track on Kanye West’s 2026 album ‘Bully.’ The song is an ode to Father or the Almighty God in Christianity for everything He has blessed unto Ye.
‘BULLY’ is Kanye West’s twelfth studio album, released on March 28, 2026. The album title is inspired by a personal account involving Ye’s son, Saint West. However, it is also an homage to the 2001 movie of the same name. The work on the album began as early as 2021, and took speed after the release of Ye’s eleventh studio album ‘DONDA’ in February 2022.
The music video for “Father” has a lot packed in. The music video is set in a church setting with hymns being sung. There are many different people from different backgrounds, walks of life, and some out of this world. A knight, policemen, a nun getting arrested by policemen, a dancer, a magician, two spacemen, and Kanye West all make cameos in the video. The two spacemen who walk in reveal that Kanye West is actually a Ye-mask-wearing alien and get dragged out of the church. Later, the same alien walks back into the church and removes its alien mask to reveal Travis Scott, who is a guest feature on the song.

What is the meaning of the song “Father” by Kanye West?
The song kicks off with a gospel sample from “Heavenly Father, You’ve Been Good” by Johnnie Frierson. The sample features extreme gratitude toward Heavenly Father for everything He has blessed the singer. Prayer plays a major role in the reciprocity of the bounty the singer has been granted in life. And he can’t be anything more than grateful for everything He has provided.
In the first verse of the song, Ye admits that he has been MIA for some time – his last album was released in 2021. He declares that he is back to life like an EPIPen saving a person from a severe allergic reaction.
Bye-bye to my old self (Old self)
Wake up to the new me (It’s a new me)
Ye seems to be turning a page in his life as he admits that he needs a change. He has been through a divorce, separation from his children, and public backlash over anti-semitic comments just in the past few years.
He says that he used to be on music tabloids, but now he has elevated himself to being on credible news sources. Ye has become a prominent voice in music and entertainment. He has built a business empire around him, working with top brands in the world.
In the second verse by Travis Scott, he follows-through for Kanye with his own personal account. He mentions that he has been working hard, like a crack syringe getting used over and over again. He follows this with a Breaking Bad reference, a TV series based on cooking meth. Scott further emphasizes that, much like Kanye, he has made his bread with music as well as sound business deals.
In both rappers’ cases, they want to express their gratitude towards God, who showed them the way to get to the top of what they do. They are forever His servant.
