“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen is often considered one of the most difficult songs to sing, if not the most. Thanks to the late legend Freddie Mercury of Queen, we have this amazing song inspiring all of us and living the legacy of Queen.
There may very well be over a thousand covers of “Bohemian Rhapsody” all over the Internet. Many have different genre adaptations. Others have the covering artists’ unique features embedded. But not a lot of them try to match the cover with that of the original. Marc Martel did attempt it and we believe he came very close to the original.
Before you jump into the Marc Martel’s cover, keep several things in mind. First, this is “Bohemian Rhapsody,” not an average Pop song from 2015. Second, Marc Martel is a one-man-show. He plays the keyboard and he performs the song solo. So obviously he won’t be able to match the harmonizations done by the four members of Queen. Third, this recording is done in one take. Queen itself did countless takes to get this track perfect. Fourth, Marc Martel is not Freddie Mercury, who is considered one of the greatest vocalists of all-time.
Watch the cover below.
Marc Martel was able to follow-through the ever-changing high and low notes of “Bohemian Rhapsody” in this live cover. He even almost hit the very high notes of “Galileo” performed by Roger Taylor which took him many, many attempts as shown in the Queen biopic movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’
An avid Queen fan, he has also performed many hits of Queen such as “Love Of My Life,” “Killer Queen,” “Somebody to Love,” “Radio Ga Ga” and more. Marc Martel’s other amazing works can be found on his YouTube channel.
Considering everything, we believe Marc Martel did a pretty spot-on job in getting as close as possible to the original version by Queen. What do you think? Leave a comment below.
