Miley Cyrus “Handstand” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review
In the spoken intro to the song, Miley Cyrus paints a picture of vivid colors. The song is heavily pop-synth-infused. So, she resorts to an extreme and vibrant depiction of the night she met this guy.
It wasn’t just a moonlit, calm, and serene beach. This night was rather neon-lit, manta rays infested, electric eels buzzing around, and a palm beach. It was exotic and magical, to say the least. This ambiance perfectly matches the chemistry of the couple. It was no coincidence that Miley drew this nature scene in such glamorous tones.
In the sky above were horses riding on dark clouds, and comets hurling toward them. Nothing was still. Nothing was mellow.
Miley names her partner ‘Twitchy.’ They surf under the neon-lit sky and danced until their legs gave up. It was a whole spectacle.
In the hook of the song, Miley Cyrus goes a little deeper into their relationship. Their chemistry is on point and oftentimes, Miley just goes into sixth gear. Her partner can only watch in awe at what she is doing to him and to them.
You cannot try to understand matters of the heart. He tries to explain what is happening to him and he comes short of answers. It is like a handstand. Not just a handstand–a one-hand handstand. Wait, it’s not over yet
My other one is busy, so I use my left hand
We know she is using one hand for the handstand. We can only assume what her left hand is occupied with. This is an obvious sexual reference. A single-handed handstand + an act of self-pleasure would possibly make this man question all of the sciences out there.
When Miley gets in this gear, this guy gets lost in oblivion. He ignores his mother’s calls and he is transfixed on Miley. And she loves it. And he loves to watch it all, as if he was looking at a unicorn.
The bridge of the song, however, mellows the topic down and brings us back to the topic of love. She wants this feeling forever. She urges to be in his captivity and pleasure his gazing eyes for eternity. It’s a match made in heaven, as that night at the beach!
