Julia Michaels Wishes She Wasn’t “Into You” (Lyrics Review and Song Meaning)

Julia Michaels released the first part of her latest EP ‘Inner Monologue’ on January 25, 2019, and we are just hooked. The album features some amazing solo music and two collaborations. In previous articles, we talked about “Anxiety” featuring Selena Gomez and “What A Time” featuring Niall Horan. In this article, we bring you another amazing track “Into You” speaking about a lost love.

‘Inner Monologue, Pt. 1’ contains 6 tracks, and “Into You” is the second song on the tracklist. Julia Michaels teased the song as early as July 20, 2018 on her Twitter.

“Into You” is supposedly inspired by the breakup Julia Michaels went through last year. She was dating the pop singer Lauv back in October 2018, and the duo released a collaboration “There’s No Way” in September 2018. In an Instagram post on January 1, 2019, Julia Michaels confirmed the breakup, commentng “No more dating narcissists.”

Lauv, yesterday, released a collaboration with Troye Sivan titled “i’m so tired…” also speaking about lost love and how he is tired of running behind love. There is not direct connection with this song and ex-Julia Michales, however.

You can download “Into You” song on iTunes and Amazon, and the album ‘Inner Monologue, Pt. 1’ on iTunes and Amazon.

In this song Julia speaks about all the trouble she goes to just avoid the ex-boyfriend. She knows that if she does, it will stirr up so many unresolved emotional trauma which she does not want to deal with. Even after two years since the breakup, Julia still seems to be attached to this ex.

Unfortunately enough, Julia Michales cannott go to her favourite restaurant or go to a mutual friend’s party in fear of running into him. She wishes that he did not have such power over her. She wishes for her freedom back. But it sounds like the couple has some unresolved endings to be ironed out. Until such time, she will continue to suffer.

Heartbreak anthems have really lead the music world recently, starting from Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” to Lauv’si’m so tired…” to Imagine Dragons’ “Bad Liar” to 5SOS’s “Lie to Me” and more.
