The Georgia based rapper Russ is wasting no time in 2019 as he releases the fourth single of the year titled “Paranoid” on June 6, 2019.
Russ premiered his second studio album ‘Zoo,’ in September 2018 and has bounced right back with brand new singles named “AINT GOIN BACK,” “All I Want” and “Civil War” respectively in 2019. The latter song marked the first collaboration between Russ and the producer Boi-1da, who also is credited for production in his new single.
Russ teased “Paranoid” single on Twitter in May 2019 with a request to his fans to retweet if they wanted the song out. Just two weeks later, the song is released.
The new song tackles the feelings of paranoia associated with stress. Russ confesses that there have been times which has made him wonder if he is ‘next’ in line of suicide. Stress has proven to be a killer, especially in the music industry as witnessed in deaths such as Avicii, Mac Miller, and even Michael Jackson.

In the first verse of “Paranoid,” Russ explains how he has been very insecure about his life. He confesses that he has guns hidden in all four corners of his house just in case of a robbery. He has CCTV cameras covering every inch of the house, just in case. Russ says that his life is threatened by fame and glory and all the darkness that follows it. However, it does not take a foreign hand to pull a trigger if someone is under stress and paranoia!
The second verse explains how Russ has no breaks over the thoughts in his head. Some even as brutal as criminal. The waves he made in the rap game come back to haunt him. The bigger the waves, the bigger his fears are.
