Selena Gomez really did surprise her fans by releasing back to back singles from her upcoming third solo studio album. The 27-year-old pop star unveiled a brand new single titled “Lose You to Love Me” on October 23, quite convincingly talking about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. 24 hours later comes another brand new song with a music video, titled “Look At Her Now.”
“Look At Her Now” is officially the second single off of Selena Gomez’s upcoming third studio album. Releasing the song and music video she told fans that she wanted to give a surprise gift to her fans; “I was so excited to release two songs back to back and surprise my fans! It’s a reminder that you can rise no matter what challenges life brings.”
We can’t help but notice that “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look At Her Now” are linked. In the first single, Selena sings about the breakup with her ex-boyfriend and her moving on after years. In the second single is a brand new woman, strong and reborn. We can’t help not looking at her in the sizzling music video for the song. Watch below.

“Look At Her Now” single is a reassurance that she will and has bounced back from the devastating breakup the singer endured several years back. In the first verse, Selena sings “fell in love one summer” which coincides with the timeline of her relationship with Justin Bieber. According to FashionMag, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber dating rumours sparked in mid-2010. The two had an on-again and off-again relationship until they broke up in March 2018. Justin Bieber rushed into a new relationship with Hailey Baldwin on June 2018, less than 3 months since the breakup. He went on to get engaged with Hailey Baldwin shutting down any reunions with Selena forever.
Selena Gomez goes on to sing about how they had a ‘shiny’ relationship until it was not anymore. She might be confirming that Justin Bieber cheated on her when she says “It was her first real lover/His too ’til he had another.”
In the pre-chorus of the song, Selena admits that she was sad–sad would be an understatement. She took a couple of years to collect herself and pour out her emotions in two singles.
Releasing “Lose You to Love Me” single, Selena confessed and thanked her fans for sticking with her despite her personal life crashing around her; “This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself.”
In the second verse of “Look At Her Now,” Selena Gomez may be confessing about her first night with Justin Bieber. “Made her more of a woman,” lyric suggests that he might have been her first sexual partner. Selena does not shy away to say that she “Still regrets that moment.”
Despite the boppy and upbeat tune, there is a whole lot of sadness hidden underneath the lyrics of the song. However, Selena seems to be finally moving away from her weak relationship with Justin Bieber and we are all happy for her.
