Selena Gomez took to Twitter today to announce a brand new single releasing on October 23, 2019. With just hours to the release time, we also got a snippet of the upcoming music video for the song. The new song, titled “Lose You To Love Me,” seems to be a moody ballad on self-discovery after experiencing heartbreak. The vocals are backed by a powerful solo piano performance by Selena Gomez herself.
According to available song credits the song has been produced by FINNEAS, the producer and brother of pop artist Billie Eilish. He has also contributed in lyrics to this track.
“Lose You To Love Me” is from Selena Gomez’s upcoming third solo studio album. The album has had singles such as “Fetish” featuring Gucci Mane, “Wolves” with Marshmello and “Bad Liar.” There is no official release date of the album as of now.
In the comments section for the YouTube music video, Selena Gomez explained the inspiration behind this song; “This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself.” So albeit it being a song about losing in love, it is also a song about picking yourself up!
On Twitter, Selena Gomez dedicated the song to all her fans for sticking by her through the ups and downs in her personal life; “Thank you all for standing by my side through the highs and lows. I couldn’t do it without you all and I can’t wait to start my next adventure with you. 🖤”
