Taylor Swift Voices Opinions on Voting, LGBTQ and Equal Rights in a Rare Political Post

Taylor Swift usually keeps her personal life hidden behind the wormhole of social media-at least she has managed to keep it backstage thus far. But as this lengthy Instagram post says, she feels differently about voicing her opinions about the politics in The USA recently. We can’t help but assume that the current Trump presidency has an effect on this change of mind of her.

Taylor Swift took to Instagram to let out her opinions about her voting decision. Taylor Swift has a 112 million following on Instagram and her voice has the power to make some change. Also, it is not easy to voice opinions about politics and be on the ‘good’ side of a mass of 112 million plus people. This post is bound to get some dislikes, but her explanations make it so hard to.

In this post, Taylor Swift endorses two Democrats-Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives, and she goes on to explain why.

Taylor Swift’s Politically-Charged Instagram Post

In this post, the ‘Reputation’ singer also talks about why she did not pick Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn. Her reasons are that Marsha publicly unsupported movements on equal pay for women, Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act and her backward attitudes on LGBTQ community.

This is the first time Taylor Swift vocalized her opinions on the LGBTQ community explicitly. Previously, her songs such as “Welcome To New York” have expressed her acceptance of the LGBTQ community.

Taylor Swift’s political appeal mainly focuses on the young people, which her fanbase is mainly made of. She addresses the young minds, unspoilt by the acts of politics so far, to have an open mind and let the brain decide what is best for the people and the country.

Taylor completed her caption with a rainbow emoji, a representation of the LGBTQ community, to finish off her comments.

Vote.org has confirmed that there has been a spike in voter registration for Tennessee in the past 24 hours since Taylor’s political post. Nation-wide the registrations have increased by 51,308 and in the state of Tennessee 2,144 new registrations have come up since Taylor’s post. The Power Of Taylor Swift Compels You!!!
