“Don’t Play” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review
The song is about Anne-Marie toughening up to relationships and life in general while warning her partners not to play games with her heart.
Building on this concept, KSI brings in some gaming references to talk about the fond memories they had together. In particular, he mentions playing Call of Duty multiplayer with her back in the day. ‘UAV’ is an acronym for Unnamed Aerial Vehicle which is a killstreak perk you can obtain in-game and is one of the easier ones to get. ‘AC’ is a reference to the ‘AC-130’ killstreak perk which is comparatively harder to get. Through these references, KSI could be inferring that he helped her in life to some level, but could not see it through to the finish line.
KSI also references to the luxury women’s perfume brand Coco Eau de Parfum Chanel.
Anne-Marie sings that she has no time for games. And even better, she says that she has seen all these games before, and she has learned from them and won them too.
So, when Anne-Marie says that the feels hit her differently now, it could very well mean that she is beginning to feel nothing at all. It only takes so many heartbreaks to grow a thick shell.
