“wacced out murals” is the first track from Kendrick Lamar’s surprise album ‘GNX.’ The song is a 5-minute length rant about K-Dot’s influence and legacy in the rap game. This is an especially strong statement coming off of a feud with Drake earlier in the year.
Kendrick Lamar released his sixth studio album ‘GNX’ out of nowhere on November 22, 2024. The album trailer was released on the rapper’s Instagram just thirty minutes prior to the album release. The album contains features from SZA, Roddy Ricch, PeySoh, and AzChike.
“wacced out murals” takes inspiration from a mural of Kendrick Lamar that was vandalized in Compton in September 2024. The rapper says he is unfazed by actions like this as he has been through worse in his career. His feud with Drake would have added a few more opps to his camp. But his vision remains the same – speak truth through his music.

Kendrick Lamar “wacced out murals” Lyrics Meaning and Song Review
In the first verse of the song, Kendrick Lamar talks about how he has gained some enemies throughout his illustrious journey. Back in the day, it was a few of them and now it seems a whole lot. So he must be doing something right or at least sticking to his mission of speaking the truth.
Kendrick has gotten used to ignoring the noise and continuing on his mission.
I paid homage and I always mind my business
He also assures that the public or the industry is not going to change who he is as a person. He is forever going to continue to be himself despite the changing circumstances in the industry. This could be a subtle jab at Drake who just produces radio music at this point. But how does he continue to do what he does when there’s easy money if you do radio music? ‘motivation.’
In the second verse of the song, Kendrick Lamar specifically addresses his disdain with Lil Wayne as they briefly beefed over headlining Superbowl 2025. Kendrick was offered the half-time gig and Lil Wayne publicly expressed his disappointment in this. Kendrick says that Lil Wayne was an idol for him but it also comes as no surprise that people change when they cannot stomach your success. He also mentions that only Nas congratulated him on securing the Superbowl 2025 halftime gig.
Kendrick also goes off on ‘old’ rappers who pretend to be relevant today. This may be continuing the jab at Lil Wayne who got bitter at not securing the Superbowl 2025 halftime show. Dot also says that he might come from the ‘older’ generation but his style is rather new – which is evident from the massive success his diss tracks had earlier in the year.
In the third and final verse of “wacced out murals,” K-Dot turns towards Drake again. He says that Drake tried to bribe people in Kendrick’s own city, Compton, to get dirty on him. But Compton really has his back even while going against someone as famous as Drake.
K Dot also shouts out Kat Williams as a spokesperson of truth. He has been vocal about the underbelly of Hollywood and hip-hop.
And as for people who still cannot decide between K Dot and Drakwordwoe, Kendrick says Drake killed real hip-hop with substance. All he raps about is money and women. If you still need to pick his side, K-Dot has no issues with you. He just wants you to see Drake for who he is – a fraud in hip-hop.
