Coldplay and Big Sean Collab on “Miracles” Track (Lyrics Review)

Coldplay has released their latest EP ‘Kaleidoscope’ and we are going to bring you one inspiring song from the album. Rightly titled “Miracles (Someone Special)” the track speaks about believing in yourself and making it out there. And for this inspiring track Coldplay has hired the right collaborator for the job-Big Sean. We have reviewed Big Sean’s “Blessings” as one of the most motivating songs we have laid our ears on.

Big Sean joins “Miracles” for one rap verse and Coldplay performs the rest of the song. The lyric video released with the song shows a series of photographs from the 70’s and 80’s of families, workers, children and different races, while the lyrics play at the bottom of the screen.

As mentioned above, “Miracles” is all about self motivation. The lead singer of Coldplay-Chris Martin starts off the first verse;

My father said never give up son
Just look how good Cassius become
Mohammed, Mahatma and Nelson
Not scared to be strong

Coldplay starts off with some of the biggest motivational stories in the history. Cassius Clay (the birth name of Mohammed Ali), Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela were all born out of nothing and have gone on to become some of the most influential people in the history of the world. The secret, as Chris Martin says, is that they are not scared to be strong.

Pre-chorus

Now you could run and just say they’re right
No I’ll never be no one in my whole life
Or you could turn and say no wait they’re wrong
And get to keep on dancing all life long

Whenever you are presented with a touch choice, you can opt two things. You can run away from the problem and let someone else achieve greatness or you can conquer the obstacle yourself and make the world remember your name. The latter is not the easy option, but it is the immortal option.

Verse 2

My father said never give up son
Just look what Amelia and Joan done
Or Rosa, Teresa their war won
Not scared to be strong

Chris Martin has received some sound advise from their father-not to give up even when the odds seem to be forever against you. Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic ocean and Joan of Arc is a French heroine from the 15th Century. Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist and Teresa is our beloved Mother Teresa who has helped countless people out of their sufferings. Sometimes it’s a random act of bravery that gets your name added to the history books.

Chorus

Yeah you could be someone special
You’ve got bright in your brains and lightning in your veins
You’ll go higher than they’ve ever gone
In you I see someone special
You’ve got fire in your eyes and when you realize you’ll go further than we’ve ever gone
Just turn it on

Coldplay whispers some words of motivation into our ears and it is up to us to get motivated by the song or just drop it here. And the special thing about what they say is that they don’t encourage us to be like any of the great names mentioned above. They say we can be much more than the greats.

Big Sean performs the third verse of “Miracles”

Look I paid my intuition I couldn’t afford tuition
My funds was insufficient, it felt like I’m in prison
Until I realized I had to set my mind free
I was trusting statistics more than I trust me
Get a degree, good job, 401k, but I’m trying to turn k’s to m’, what does it take?
And maybe I could be the new Ali of music prolly

Big Sean as usual draws inspiration from his life and puts together some inspiring truths. His verse speaks about how broke he was, not being able to pay his tuition fees even and how he felt imprisoned because of issues of racial discrimination and poverty.

He was not going to run in the hamster wheel and get a degree and get a ‘good’ job and earn 400k a year. His goal was to turn the ‘k’ (thousand) into a ‘m’ (million) and as we know, he has done it. So why not call him the Ali of music?

There is more to the verse by Big Sean but we are wrapping up our review and song analysis of “Miracles (Someone Special)” by Coldplay featuring Big Sean. We have enjoyed going through the lyrics of this song and if you did so too, make sure to comment your favorite lines from the song.
